Semester Exam Information and Exemption Policy

As communicated at the beginning of the school year, Blount County Schools policy now allows some students to be exempt from their final exams at the end of the semester. This exemption refers to teacher-made exams and does not exempt students from state-mandated End-of-Course tests.  Spring 2022 semester exams will be held May 15 and 16, with makeup exams on May 17 . Students earn exam exemption on a class-by-class basis by meeting the following criteria:

  • Passing the class
  • 4 or fewer days absent
  • Having no in-school or out-of-school suspensions

Students will be specifically notified of their exemption status by each teacher. Students who are exempt will not have to attend school on May 17, 18 and 19. Students who are not exempt must take their exams, and testing periods will not be interrupted for student check-outs.
